Reduce

Reduce makes smaller copies of your photos and videos so you can reclaim storage without deleting anything.

You pick what you want to shrink, choose how hard to squeeze, and Reduce re-encodes using HEVC and HEIC. Before anything is replaced it shows you the result — the same frame, before and after, with a slider between them — so you decide whether the smaller copy is good enough to keep. Originals are never removed without your explicit confirmation.

Four presets: Space Saver, Balanced, Max Quality, and Custom for your own resolution, codec, frame rate and size rules.

• A share extension, so you can send items straight from Photos, up to 50 at once

• A Live Activity with progress on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island

• A History of every run and what it saved

Everything runs on your device. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and there are no analytics or servers. Reduce works in airplane mode.

This is the first beta, so expect rough edges. What I most want feedback on is output quality — whether the smaller copies look good enough to live with. And if anything ever happens to an original that you didn't explicitly confirm, please report it straight away.
